Welcome to Buttercups Teddington. This, our newest nursery was awarded ‘Outstanding’ in its most recent Ofsted inspection.
Our Nursery Manager, Sophie, has over 10 years experience in childcare and during that time has taken on every position you could imagine! She holds a BA Honours degree in Leadership and Management and has relished using her knowledge to help develop the wonderful team at Teddington. “Since my first role as nursery assistant, my passion to make a difference to the little people's lives has always been at the forefront of my working day. I aspire to lead a work force that can ensure every child leaves us having felt loved, nurtured and confident in learning new things and using those early life skills we helped them achieve,” Sophie.
Our Deputy Manager, Caroline has also worked with children for 10 years. She aims to provide children with a safe, fun, challenging environment where they can accomplish, grow, build confidence and learn many new things. “I love love love pre-school aged children. I love witnessing the children's faces during scientific experiments and watching their creativity flow during arts and crafts. And, with a handful of grandchildren to keep me on my toes outside of work, I am always up to date with the latest crazes!” Caroline.
Buttercups Teddington is a small, homely nursery with bright, colourful play rooms. The smaller groups of children in each class ensure that they receive plenty of attention from our dedicated teachers. Our large garden is packed with toys, natural resources, activities and things to explore.
So whether it is a forest school inspired session or some physical development, your little one will always have something to enjoy.
Our qualified, caring staff receive ongoing training, both on and off-site. This nurturing and development continues throughout their time with us, inspiring the level of care and education your child receives. All children are allocated a key-person when they start, someone who is committed to their well-being. We have a gentle settling-in process as we know that some children find it harder to adjust than others.
The under 2s have dedicated playrooms with a quiet, calm feel.
For the 2-3 year olds we have rooms filled with specialised play equipment. This sturdy furniture is made from wood and other natural materials and encourages children to learn through play.
Our 3-5 year olds have supervised use of ICT equipment, engage in critical thinking activities such as science experiments and work on their early mathematical and literacy skills daily through fun, child-interest led activities. In this way our dedicated teachers prepare our children for their move to big school.
We have CCTV throughout the nursery and all our staff have an enhanced DBS check and First Aid training. Healthy meals are cooked freshly everyday by our own cook, who can cater for all dietary requirements. And we have recently been awarded a Food Hygiene Rating of 5.
We have a strict policy on all hygiene. The nursery is cleaned every evening, laundry is done daily and all toys are sanitized weekly. Our baby room has a “no shoes” policy to keep the floors clean for our crawlers and all staff are instructed in the use of antibacterial spray and hand washing routines. We also carry out constant risk assessments of equipment and toys to ensure their safety and that they are in tip-top condition for playing.
Plus we have additional activities on offer: Cooking and Reading clubs, whilst all pre-schoolers enjoy Spanish classes!
